Why was the Civil Society Fund set up and when?
The Fund was launched by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants to address the challenges faced by democratic institutions in Europe. It builds on the Donor States' long-standing commitment to civil society, increasing their support to an unprecedented level of over € 300 million in the new Fund, following €197 million previously allocated to civil society in the years 2014-2021.
